Green Packaging
Industries Private Limited hereon takes a step forward to
make this planet healthier and greener for all the living
beings and not just for humans. When plastic bags became more
famous and came into use for carrying products and belongings
from one place to other, we did not think that it could harm
generations of living beings. Since 1980s, plastic bags are
used more aggressively all over the world for toting grocery
items, packaging gifts, carrying lunch boxes and for many
other daily activities. But there is a rising concern over
the use of plastic bags in the past few years. It is lately
that we have realized that the plastic bags have dangerous
consequences to follow.
Some of the Plastic Facts:
1. Worldwide, an estimated 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic
bags are used annually.
2. Although plastic bags are recyclable, less than 3% of them
actually are. The rest end up in landfill wastes, ocean debris,
and as litter around the streets.
3. An estimated 4 billion plastic bags end up as litter each
year worldwide.
4. In landfills, plastic bags sit for roughly 1,000 years
before decomposing and release toxic chemicals into the soil
during decomposition.
5. In our oceans, plastic debris was found in almost 75% of
dead sea-turtles in 2002.
6. An EPA ranking of chemicals that produce the most hazardous
waste showed 5 of the top 6 were used by the plastic industry.
The Solution: Reusable Bags:
The solution to this hazardous problem is using bags which
can be ‘Reused’ more than just once. Since the
fabric used to manufacture reusable bags are mainly jute and
cotton, the bags can be used for a longer duration.
Jute Benefits:
Jute is one of the strongest natural plant fibers that can
be used for various purposes. It is regarded as the most important
vegetable fibers after cotton in terms of usage, global consumption,
production and availability. Some of the benefits of this
fiber are enlisted below:
• Jute fiber is 100% bio-degradable and recyclable and
thus environmentally friendly
• One hectare of jute plants can consume about 15 tons
of CO2 and release about 11 tons of oxygen during the jute
growing season
• Jute has the ability to be blended with other fibers,
both synthetic and natural, and accepts cellulose dye classes
such as natural, basic, vat, sulfur, reactive, and pigment
dyes.
• The growing of jute provides an income for more than
4 million farming families in poor communities.
• Jute bags can resist high temperature and good for
toting food items.
• Jute bags can carry more weight than plastic bags.
Cotton Benefits:
• The cotton fabric is very soft and printing can be
made very attractive on cotton bags.
• Cotton Bags are easily washable and thus can be reused
for a longer duration.
• Cotton bags can be easily folded and kept in pocket
or hand bags.
• Since the fabric is slightly stretchable it can carry
more goods than plastic bags.
Benefits of Non Woven &
Woven PP Bags:
• PP bags are reusable more than regular plastic bags
used for promotion and exhibitions.
• Attractive designs can be printed on PP bags.
• The bags are of light weight and can be easily folded
to carry to markets.
• PP bags are also strong and durable compared to plastic
bags.

also beneficial as they can be reused multiple times more
than a normal carry bag, thereby reducing plastic consumption
on the whole.
